WR, DB coaches fired
Posted by Eric | January 4, 2008 at 5:52 pm | In Coaches | 2 CommentsConfirming rumors floating around the internet, the CC Times reports that Coach Jeff Tedford has axed two assistant coaches: receivers coach Dan Ferrigno and defensive backs coach R. Todd Littlejohn.
Also in the rumor mill is the possible hire of former Tedford pupil and current 49er quarterback Trent Dilfer as a new offensive coordinator, as well as current QB coach Kevin Daft taking over the WR coach duties.
EDIT 1/5: Additionally, reports are circulating that defensive line coach Ken Delgado is leaving for Louisville on his own (not fired by Tedford).

Does anyone else see this for what it is scapegoating two coaches for JT and Gregory’s inability to get it done this year. I especially enjoyed the fact that the WR coach was fired because the Recievers were not running the correct routes, yeah that is why Longshore was so bad in the fourth because Jordan Hawkins and Jackson were not running the correct routes, does that mean they just started running the correct ones when Riley was in, or perhaps Riley was actually really making horrible throws but since the WR were not running the right routes they just ended up catching his horrible throws. The WR coach was fired because Tedford did not go to Riley, and the DB coach because Gregory could not get any pressure with the DL, I really want to believe that Tedford is the guy who will win the Rose Bowl for us, but sometimes I am left with puzzlement on my face for his inexplicable decisions.

Totally agree with Terry. Coach Tedford needs to take responsablity for his own bad decisions.
